Johanna Klein

„ I'm Jojo and I've been climbing since spring 2017. Before that, I did apparatus gymnastics as a competitive sport for 5 years, among others in the German national youth squad. I love the variety that climbing offers me: on the one hand, I can compete and challenge myself with other athletes at competitions and on the other hand I can spend a lot of time in nature rockclimbing with friends and just focus on myself and the boulder. The thrill of competitions caught me early (in gymnastics already). I live and love climbing since the first moment and look forward to what the next years will bring. “

about Mantle

„ I have not tried many different kinds of chalk, because right at the beginning I discovered the Mantle Chalk and was immediately convinced. It has the best consistency for me - not too hard/ crumbly, but also not too powdery/ fine - just the golden mean! It also reminds me of the kind of chalk that I have also loved in gymnastics :) - Love at first grip ;) “

Questions to Johanna

What do you usually do in your spare time?

Most of the time I spend training of course, but when I find a weekend off, I go bouldering outdoors. After 4 years of being gym-free, I recently rediscovered gymnastics for me because I still love doing double somersaults and twists, or just getting back on the balance beam and doing a free wheel or somersault on it. I also teach kids' courses twice a week at Boulderwelt and want to pass on the joy of climbing to the kids.

Give us a fun fact about you or a remarkable experience in your climbing career.

When I stand in front of a boulder, so many ideas come into my head how I could climb it, that sometimes I can't decide at all. ;)

What are your long term and/or short term goals?

In the short term I want to gain experience at as many international competitions as possible and climb my first 8b boulder. In the long term, I want to be at the front of the pack at bouldering world cups and visit many bouldering areas around the world and be able to tick off many difficult rockclimbing projects. I would also like to make many new friends with other climbing enthusiasts. The most important thing for me, however, is not to lose the ease and joy of climbing and to always keep my heart in it.
