Florence Grünewald

„ I am Flo, 19 years old and just did my A-Levels in 2017. I've been passionatly climbing for 9 years, which is almost half my life. Since I am 12 years old I have been mostly competing but I also enjoy every minute I can spend outdoors on some rock. My ambition spreads out on all three disciplines of climbing. As a result I also create my training quite diverse and I stay psyched to try new excercises and movements. “

about Mantle

„ I knew that I feel comfortable climbing with Mantle-Chalk when I held the top hold of my first 8a in Leonidio in my hands. During the entire climb I didn't need to worry about the perfect grip or sweaty hands because the chalk gave me a secure feeling and a natrual grip from the very beginning. “

Questions to Florence

What do you usually do in your spare time?

Besides my regular training several times a week for the comp season, I enjoy spending some days outdoors and I look for projects which inspire me to grow into challenges. Furthermore I am planning to start Uni at the end of April after having travelled to many climbing and bouldering destinations over the past year.

Give us a fun fact about you or a remarkable experience in your climbing career.

On my last school day, basically when my studying period for A-Levels was supposed to start, I was so psyched for a bouldering trip to Marrocco and out of euphoria I accidently booked 2 flights. Since it was possible to cancel the flight, only one option remained: I had to look for a second destination and change the flight in order not to waste money for a flight I won't be able to get on. So I decided to fly to Albarracin for 10 days before my graduation to sweat heaps while climbing in the hot summer over there. Even though I was incapable of booking a normal flgiht both trips were unforgetable. So I neither regret the awesome bouldering days nor those days where I just laid on a crashpad and enjoyed the sun.

What are your long term and/or short term goals?

My longterm goal is definitley to improve my general climbing level and to stay away from injuries, especially from my shoulder injury. Moreover I am psyched to look for new climbing and bouldering projects outdoors.
