Why MANTLE Liquid Chalk?
Liquid chalk should do one thing above all: work quickly and evenly.
Our liquid formula is easy to spread over your fingers and palms. Once dry, it leaves behind a thin layer of chalk, so you can get straight to your attempt.
Liquid chalk is particularly useful as a base for longer sessions or routes. If its effectiveness starts to wane, you can easily reapply loose MANTLE chalk.
The classic version contains magnesium carbonate, isopropyl alcohol, and rosin. If you prefer to avoid rosin, you can use our separate rosin-free liquid chalk.
Even instead of dusty
The main advantage of liquid chalk lies in its application: the magnesium carbonate is already evenly distributed on the skin in liquid form.
This creates significantly less loose chalk dust when applied compared to powder. Once the liquid evaporates, the chalk remains on the hand.
For this very reason, liquid chalk is well suited as a first layer before climbing.
How do I use liquid chalk correctly?
Apply a small amount of liquid chalk to your palms and spread it thinly over your fingers and hands.
Then let it dry completely before touching a hold.
A thin layer is usually enough. Too much liquid chalk simply increases the drying time.
It is not practical to reapply liquid chalk during a route. If you need to chalk up while climbing, it is best to combine it with loose chalk or a chalk ball in your chalk bag.

Still have questions?
What is liquid chalk?
Liquid chalk is a liquid chalk variant in which magnesium carbonate is dispersed in a liquid. After application, the liquid evaporates, leaving a thin layer of chalk on the skin.
How do you use liquid chalk correctly?
Apply a small amount to your hands, spread it thinly, and let it dry completely. Only then should you start climbing.
How much Liquid Chalk do I need?
A small amount is usually enough for both hands. A thin, even layer is more effective than applying a lot of product at once.
Does Liquid Chalk need to dry before climbing?
Yes. Liquid chalk should be completely dry before you touch holds or rock.
What is the difference between liquid chalk and loose chalk?
Liquid chalk is applied in liquid form and is particularly suitable for an even base layer. Loose chalk, on the other hand, can be quickly reapplied at any time and can also be used in a chalk bag during a route.
Can I combine liquid chalk with loose chalk?
Yes. A common combination is liquid chalk as a base and loose chalk for re-chalking during the session.
Does liquid chalk dust less than loose chalk?
Applying it creates significantly less loose chalk dust, as the magnesium carbonate is first applied to the hands in liquid form.
Is liquid chalk suitable for bouldering?
Yes. It is particularly suitable as a base layer before bouldering or a longer session. Between attempts, you can use loose chalk additionally if needed.
Is liquid chalk suitable for sport climbing?
Yes. A smooth base layer is especially useful before a long route. For re-chalking during the route, you should additionally use loose chalk or a chalk ball in the chalk bag.
Does it contain the classic MANTLE Liquid Chalk rosin?
Yes. The classic MANTLE formula contains magnesium carbonate, isopropyl alcohol, and rosin. We also offer a separate rosin-free version.
Can liquid chalk dry out?
Yes. Since the liquid can evaporate, the bottle should always be tightly closed after use.
