When we asked Paula what her short- and long-term goals were, her answer was:
“In the long term, I want to establish myself in the World Cups with fun and motivation. For the 2025 season, I have set myself the goal of winning an international youth competition.”
Mission accomplished!
On May 18, the 15-year-old from Oberhaching secured the title of 2025 Youth European Champion.
We spoke to Paula after her success:
You have already achieved your 2025 season goal: winning an international youth competition. Congratulations once again!
Do you already have your next goal in mind, or are you first enjoying your success?
“For now, I am focusing on the Youth World Championships, which take place at the end of July. There, I want to climb into the final (Top 6).“
What helps you maintain the balance between ambition and the fun of climbing?
“I am generally a very ambitious person. But for me, it is not just the results that count, but also the fun of climbing and the fun with my teammates, coaches, and athletes from other nations. Also, it is very nice that I get to travel a lot and be part of great sporting events.“
What particularly excites you about climbing in general?
“It never gets boring. There are always different movements, hold types, and challenges.“
What specifically about climbing competitions?
“I love comparing myself with others and, above all, showing what I can do and what I have trained for. I also like the adrenaline and the feeling when you achieve what you have fought for.“
