The perfect combination of relaxing, swimming, and climbing!
A short and sweet trip to Mallorca with Juliana. Despite a few minor issues with the infrastructure, we can ultimately say – spontaneous is always best! Our little short break consisted mainly of relaxation and rest. A little time off from the everyday life that surrounds you day after day.
But it would be boring without climbing. After we didn't reach a sport climbing area on the second day due to a lack of motivation to hike in the scorching sun, "deep water soloing" was our climbing highlight.
Since we wanted to combine climbing and swimming, we chose Cala Barques, one of the best-known areas on Mallorca. After a few discussions about how best to reach the entry points and how cold the water would be, we set off two by two. Juliana chose one of the most striking lines, "Bisexuell" DWS 7a. Motivated by this, I also chose this line and took the opportunity to hang a few meters and move the entry further down.
Motivated by this flash, I tackled the line "Bandito" DWS 7c. This route went completely through the steepest part of the cave once and ended in a similar exit to "Bisexuell". A little intimidated by the entry boulder and the wrong solution, I quickly went into the cold water. After a drying break in the Spanish sun, I went again. This time with the correct sequence of holds. And after I also had the crux at the exit at a height of 12 meters behind me, the relief was very great.
Mallorca, see you soon!
